INDIA
This is jersey from 2013-14 season set of Indian jerseys. It was used in 2014 Challenge Cup of Asia Division 1 tournament in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan by goaltender Sonam Gurmat. India played among the host Kyrgyzstan, Macao and Singapore. The teams played single round robin, semi finals and bronze and gold medal games. In the preliminary round India lost all 3 games. The scores were:
India - Macao 0 - 12
Kyrgyzstan - India 6 - 2
Singapore - India 6 - 2
India used the orange jerseys against Macao and Singapore. Gurmat was the starting goalie in all 3 games and he was only substituted after 2nd period against Macao when they were trailing 0-7 and Gurmat had made 40 saves. Gurmat faced tons of shots in every game but he was able to keep the score reasonable. He made 47 saves against Kyrgyzstan and remarkable 59 saves against Singapore.
In the semi finals India challenged the group winner Kyrgyzstan. This time the hosts didn't give India much hope and the final score was devastating 2-16. India used orange jerseys in the game and Gurmat was the starting goalie but he was substituted in the first period when his team was trailing 1-5. The backup goalie Paldan Namtak was between the pipes almost till the end of 2nd period when he got enough of the Kyrgyzstan's fire power.
The score was 2-11 when Gurmat returned to the goal. Kyrgyzstan doubled their shots on goal compared with the round robin game and outshot India incredibly 108-25. Gurmat made 51 saves and allowed 10 goals while Namtak allowed 7 shots and made 41 saves.
India had still bronze medal game to come in which they played against Singapore. India used white jerseys in that game and Gurmat played the whole game. India gave a serious opponent to Singapore but had to travel home without medals as Singapore won the game 5-3. Gurmat made 37 saves and Singaporean netminder had almost as many saves, 36.
